ABOUT LUMILENS

At Lumilens we are building the critical photonics infrastructure that powers tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing - faster, cooler, and massively more efficient.

We’re a well-funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who’ve built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. At Lumilens, we’re developing high-speed photonics products purpose-built to power the future of AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.

This isn’t incremental innovation, it’s a ground-floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll work alongside a team of world-class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in scaling optical systems. Every line of code, every design decision, every breakthrough you help deliver will shape the infrastructure of tomorrow.

If you're looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, jump on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a seasoned General Manager to lead end-to end operational execution as the company scales its next generation optical transceiver and photonics products from NPI into high volume global manufacturing.

As GM you will serve as the single-threaded owner for delivery, cost, quality, and capacity across Lumilens’ manufacturing ecosystem. You’ll work closely with OEM partners, critical component suppliers, and internal engineering and planning teams. This role requires a rare blend of technical depth, operational rigor, supplier leadership, and strategic judgment to translate innovation into reliable, scalable and world-class production.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Own end-to-end operational execution for Lumilens’ product portfolio (800G / 1.6T optical modules and beyond), with full accountability for on-time delivery, cost, quality, and scalable ramp-up.

2. Serve as the ultimate escalation authority for all production, yield, capacity, quality, and supplier-related issues to ensure rapid resolution

3. Translate customer demand and revenue targets into executable build plans, capacity commitments, and supply strategies.

4. Lead and govern Lumilens’ global manufacturing ecosystem, including EMS/ODM partners, OSATs, fabs, and critical sub-tier suppliers.

5. Drive capacity planning, ramp readiness, and risk mitigation across multiple sites.

6. Negotiate and manage commercial agreements, including pricing, capacity reservations, long-term supply commitments, and cost-down initiatives with key vendors.

7. Establish and maintain robust dual-sourcing strategies, second-source qualifications, and supplier contingency plans to ensure supply continuity.

8. Own COGS performance, BOM cost reductions, PPV tracking, and long-term cost-down roadmaps.

9. Act as an operational partner to Product and Hardware Engineering teams, to ensure seamless alignment between design intent and manufacturing execution.

10. Embed design-for-manufacturability (DFM/DFX) principles early in the NPI lifecycle to enable scalable, high-yield production.

11. Build scalable operating cadence, including weekly build reviews, QBRs with suppliers, and executive dashboards.

12. Implement and mature processes for demand planning, S&OP, supplier scorecards, and quality management.

13. Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team across operations, supply chain, planning, and quality.

14. Create clarity of ownership, accountability, and decision rights across functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Progressive leadership experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain roles within hardware, deep-tech, or advanced electronics environments.

  • Proven track record of scaling products from NPI through high-volume manufacturing, including ownership of yield, quality, cost, and delivery.

  • Strong technical foundation in optics, semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, or closely related industries; experience with optical transceivers, data-centre hardware, or high-speed networking products is preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced technical degree/ MBA in electrical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • Deep hands-on expertise in manufacturing process development, yield analysis, root-cause problem solving, and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience negotiating pricing, capacity commitments, long-term supply agreements, and cost-reduction initiatives.

  • In-depth knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), reliability testing, and quality standards applicable to high-volume electronics and optics manufacturing.

  • Experience working across Asia-based manufacturing hubs, including Taiwan, Thailand, China, and Vietnam. Experience working in Singapore will be an advantage.

  • Resourceful and analytical problem-solver, capable of managing multiple concurrent programs and priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

  • Proven ability to operate effectively within geographically distributed, cross-functional teams, partnering closely with engineering, quality, finance, and commercial functions.

  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to senior stakeholders and mentor and develop teams.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

Equal Employment Opportunity

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, military or veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable local laws and regulations.
