What you'll do

  • Work with the Director Senior Counsel of International and Data Privacy Counsel to build awareness of the company’s global data privacy governance program
  • Provide advice on a broad range of global data privacy matters and data sharing initiatives covering the EU, the UK, Canada, Mexico, APAC regions (China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia & New Zealand) and the US
  • Draft and advise on data processing agreements, data transfer agreements and data privacy impact assessments
  • Update and maintain data privacy policies, consent forms, guidelines and procedures and review data privacy training
  • Work with business process and asset owners to ensure our records of personal data processing are captured and documented within our central data privacy compliance tool
  • Manage implementations of new technologies, in areas such as HR, e-commerce, marketing and logistics, advising on the data privacy compliance aspects of these projects
  • Co-ordinate and manage data subject requests from customers and employees and data breach incidents
  • Monitor legal developments and provide analysis to key business stakeholders globally, including at a Corporate Compliance and Governance Committee
  • Support data privacy custodians and other stakeholders across the business, including working with external legal counsel

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Global Data Privacy Manager to join the Tempur Sealy Legal team, reporting to the Director Senior Counsel – International.  The role will be based in London but will also be an integral part of the Global Legal Team.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Results Area:

Ideal Candidate Possesses These Attributes:

Technical Skills and Experience

  • An individual with an in-depth and breadth of experience with respect to data privacy, gained ideally in-house
  • Experience with advising on global data privacy laws is preferred
  • Experience of working as in-house counsel in a large International business is preferred
  • Experience reviewing and advising on data privacy aspects in commercial contracts is essential
  • Previous experience in the retail/manufacturing sector is preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working within a data privacy management platform

Personal Skills

  • Excellent leadership skills such as organising, planning, problem-solving and decision-making
  • Highly developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact and communicate effectively with people at all organisational levels
  • Excellent organisational skills needed to manage time well, prioritise effectively, provide project management support and handle multiple deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills needed for all primary duties of position, including comprehending and communicating complex legal information

Qualifications:

University Degree in Law or equivalent

Work Environment/Physical Requirements: 

Office based in Uxbridge, London, with great access to public transport or provided parking. Applicants must hold a right to work in the UK, and be UK based. Hybrid working at least 3 days per week in the office and flexibility to attend the office as and when required during working hours.

Some international travel may be required.
