What you'll do

  • Manage key elements of Reddit’s global indirect tax function across B2B and B2C revenue streams, including US S&U tax, VAT/GST, DSTs, and other transactional taxes.
  • Oversee indirect tax registrations, return compliance, payments, exemption documentation, taxability determinations, and related controls across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Own and improve indirect tax processes and systems, including product and taxability mapping, exemptions, transaction testing, system integrations, data validation, and issue resolution.
  • Serve as the indirect tax cross-functional partner for new products and initiatives, commercial arrangements, billing changes, and geographic expansion.
  • Monitor and implement evolving e-invoicing, digital reporting, and real-time reporting requirements.
  • Perform indirect tax account reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, close activities, and internal controls.
  • Advise on the indirect tax provisions of customer and vendor agreements, invoicing requirements, and available exemptions.
  • Manage indirect tax audits, notices, and disclosures.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on Reddit.
  • Develop scalable processes, automation, metrics, and documentation that improve data quality, reduce manual work, and strengthen operational controls.
  • Contribute to broader Global Tax Team priorities and ad hoc projects, flexing beyond the role’s core indirect tax responsibilities as business needs evolve.

  • 6+ years of indirect tax experience in public accounting and/or a multinational corporate tax function, including meaningful hands-on operational experience.

  • Experience researching product and service taxability, registration and nexus obligations, place-of-supply rules, invoicing requirements, and exemptions.
  • Experience supporting indirect tax compliance, accounting, audits, and controls across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to understand end-to-end transaction flows and convert tax requirements into workable processes, data requirements, and system configurations.
  • Strong project-management skills and experience supporting system changes or other cross-functional initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex tax matters to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-moving and evolving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, curiosity, and commitment to developing durable solutions rather than temporary workarounds.

  • Vertex experience is highly preferred, particularly with rule or product mapping, transaction testing, system integrations, configuration changes, data validation, reconciliations, and production troubleshooting. Experience with another enterprise indirect tax engine will also be considered.
  • Experience with indirect tax issues affecting technology, digital media, advertising, subscriptions, SaaS, or other high-volume transactional businesses.
  • Experience implementing e-invoicing, digital reporting, or real-time reporting requirements.

The Global Tax Team is seeking a hands-on indirect tax professional to help build and scale Reddit’s global indirect tax function. As Reddit continues to grow as a public company and expand its products and commercial offerings, this person will own critical elements of our US and international indirect tax operations, including US S&U tax and VAT/GST.

You will partner closely with the business to translate complex tax requirements into practical decisions, reliable systems, and scalable processes. In keeping with Reddit values, the successful candidate will operate with an open mindset, exercise sound judgment, and “value the human” in every interaction.

This position will report to the International Tax Senior Manager.

 Responsibilities:
