We are seeking an experienced Group Manager – Bullion Management (Risk Management) to lead the identification, assessment, and management of risks arising from gold and silver price movements. The role will be responsible for minimizing financial exposure, optimizing hedging outcomes, and supporting profitability through effective commodity risk management, market intelligence, and disciplined hedging strategies.

The role requires strong expertise in bullion and commodity markets, derivatives, quantitative risk analysis, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder management, along with the ability to provide forward-looking insights to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Commodity Risk Identification & Analysis

• Monitor gold and silver markets, tracking price movements, volatility, market trends, and emerging risks.
• Identify and assess commodity price, supply, liquidity, geopolitical, and market-related risks.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative risk assessments to evaluate potential financial exposure.
• Monitor bullion positions and assess their impact on overall business profitability and financial performance.

Hedging Strategy & Execution

• Design, develop, and execute appropriate hedging strategies using futures, forwards, OTC derivatives, options, and swaps.
• Evaluate hedge effectiveness and ensure alignment with business objectives and approved risk parameters.
• Manage Demat and physical commodity delivery processes associated with hedging activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve hedging efficiency while maintaining appropriate risk controls.
• Ensure all hedging activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Market Research & Intelligence

• Analyze global commodity markets, supply-demand dynamics, macroeconomic indicators, monetary policies, and geopolitical developments.
• Track global bullion and commodity benchmarks and assess their potential impact on the business.
• Develop forward-looking market views, scenario analyses, and risk assessments to support decision-making.
• Provide timely insights on market movements, potential risks, and hedging opportunities to senior stakeholders.

Risk Reporting, Controls & Compliance

• Prepare and review risk reports covering Value at Risk (VaR), sensitivity analysis, stress testing, and P&L attribution.
• Monitor risk limits, exposures, hedge positions, and compliance with approved risk management frameworks.
• Maintain accurate, transparent, and audit-ready documentation of risk and hedging activities.
• Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies, exchanges, and financial market institutions as required.
• Coordinate regulatory requirements and approvals for expanding or introducing additional hedging instruments.
• Strengthen risk governance, controls, processes, and documentation related to bullion management.

Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with gold procurement, divisional finance, central finance, treasury, and other relevant business functions.
• Advise senior leadership on commodity exposure, market risks, hedging strategies, and potential mitigation measures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning through commodity price and risk insights.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective execution of bullion risk management strategies.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of bullion, commodity markets, and derivatives.
• Expertise in commodity risk management and hedging strategies.
• Strong knowledge of VaR, stress testing, sensitivity analysis, risk modelling, and P&L attribution.
• Strong financial acumen with hands-on understanding of commodity hedging.
• Ability to analyze large datasets and translate market data into actionable risk insights.
• Understanding of applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Educational Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification is required.
• MBA, CFA, or FRM preferred.

Experience

• 15+ years of experience in commodity trading, bullion risk management, treasury, financial risk management, or a closely related domain.
• Strong exposure to commodity derivatives, hedging, market risk, and bullion-related financial management.
• Experience managing complex commodity exposures and working with multiple internal and external stakeholders is preferred.
