About the role

As Head of Fire, Health & Safety, you will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of fire, health and safety across the Harrods estate, including our flagship Knightsbridge store, production kitchens, warehouses and distribution centre. Reporting to the Director of Security and Safety, you will lead the development and delivery of safety strategies, policies and risk management frameworks that ensure the highest standards of compliance, governance and operational excellence. You will manage and develop a high-performing team of specialists while partnering with senior stakeholders across the business to drive continuous improvement and maintain a proactive, positive safety culture.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and evolving the Fire, Health & Safety function, ensuring robust compliance, risk management and best-in-class safety standards across all Harrods locations.
• Developing and implementing the long-term Fire, Health & Safety strategy, aligning safety objectives with wider business goals and operational priorities.
• Acting as the organisation's subject matter expert, providing expert guidance on fire safety, health and safety legislation, building projects, risk assessments and policy development.
• Leading investigations into significant incidents, identifying root causes and driving preventative actions that strengthen our safety culture and reduce future risk.
• Inspiring, coaching and developing a team of Health & Safety Advisers and Fire Officers, fostering engagement, high performance and continuous professional growth.

About You

You are a passionate and experienced safety leader with a strong track record of building high-performing teams and delivering strategic health, safety and fire safety programmes within complex, fast-paced environments. You combine deep technical expertise with exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills, enabling you to influence at all levels of an organisation. Commercially aware and solutions-focused, you are committed to creating safer environments while supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement.

To succeed in this role you will need:

• A NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent Level 6 NVQ), with Chartered IOSH membership (CMIOSH) or progress towards achieving it.
• Significant senior leadership experience leading Health, Safety and Fire Safety teams, with extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, governance and risk management frameworks.
• Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility with senior leaders, operational teams, regulators and external stakeholders while driving a proactive safety culture.

Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working- this is what we refer to as ‘Hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.
