Our core strategy focuses on empowering customers to switch to N26 as their primary account. By embedding financial tools that are reliable and resilient, we ensure N26 is an essential part of everyday life. To lead this, we need a Director of Marketing [Paid] who understands how to communicate the value of a top-of-wallet banking experience.

About the role

With the financial sector facing significant digital transformation and heightened competition, N26 is seeking a focused leader to spearhead the expansion of our strategic Lending division. 

As Head of Lending, you will assume management of the Lending vertical, supervising the end-to-end lifecycle of our retail  lending products operations, which currently cover consumer loans, overdraft facilities, and installment products. 

This product is critical to the banking business and the role empowers you to operate your own business vertical: designing the long-term Lending strategy & roadmap, driving product adoption and growth, and ensuring strong P&L performance in alignment with N26 Bank risk appetite and policies. You will build, nurture, spearhead a group of 4–6 direct reports, fostering a resilient and high-performing team that integrates seamlessly with the broader strategic ambitions of N26. Additionally, you will work closely with Engineering, Credit, Data Science, Design and senior management to identify new opportunities, optimise current portfolio performance and deliver with high standards and high velocity.

Based in Berlin or Barcelona.

Your impact 

• Drive Sustainable Product Growth: define and execute the long-term retail lending strategy to expand the customer base, unlock new opportunities, and sustainably increase product adoption.

• Own the Roadmap and P&L: take full ownership of the consumer lending product roadmap, from defining product future direction, priorities and product timeline and features to ensuring the cross-functional team meets deliverables and deadlines. You will own the outcomes of the P&L and work closely with Credit Risk teams to shape and grow the lending portfolio.

• Team Management and Leadership: architect and scale an efficient lending organization, design high-performing team structures, establish clear governance, and embed success metrics across all areas of responsibility.

• Strengthen Cross-Functional Collaboration: become a connective tissue between Product, Credit Risk, Operations and Data Science, deeply understanding underlying credit risk models to ensure robust, compliant, and data-driven lending decisions. 

• Market Development and Acceleration: scale market penetration and portfolio growth by identifying systemic levers that expand customer adoption of N26 lending products.

What you bring  

• Strategic Product & Business Leadership: a proven track record in senior Product Management leadership, P&L ownership, demonstrating a balance of a strong product mindset and high-level business acumen. You are proficient in translating complex product strategies into scalable commercial success and measurable P&L growth.

• Lending Domain Expertise: proven experience in banking, fintech, or the broader lending space (e.g., credit lines, BNPL, loans, mortgages etc). 

• Team Leadership: you possess proven ability to build, nurture and grow high performing teams and you can create an innovative environment where top-tier talent can thrive and deliver exceptional business results.

• Data & P&L Fluency: you are deeply data-driven, possess a strong understanding of P&L management, and know how to use data to make sharp product decisions that move the needle for the business.

• Stakeholder Management and Cross-functional Collaboration: you are comfortable working closely with different areas of the organization. Navigating between Product, Engineering, Credit Risk Management, Data Science and Operations, you can communicate effectively, manage expectations and balance human and operational resources.
