Sound good? We're looking for a Health & Safety Team Manager - Field Operations to join us!

What you'll do

You will support the Health and Safety Field Operations Manager in leading and delivering key Health and Safety business improvement projects through Beyond Zero Harm.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering Health and Safety improvement projects and campaigns, including the ongoing behavioural safety programme. A key part of the role will be to strengthen the effective application of Scottish Water’s Lifesaving Rules, with an initial focus on energy isolation, confined spaces, and the safe operation of plant and vehicles.

This role will have a strong focus on supporting Field Operations teams to comply with Scottish Water and regulatory standards, while identifying and progressing opportunities for continuous improvement.

The role will also support the delivery of consistent site standards across water and wastewater assets, as well as office locations. You will be expected to develop strong and effective working relationships with key stakeholders, providing valued support to customers, Field Operations colleagues and the wider Health and Safety team. In the absence of the Health and Safety Field Operations Manager, you will also provide leadership and direction to the Health and Safety Field Operations Team.

What you’ll need

You’ll be an experienced Health & Safety professional with a proven track record of working across a wide range of disciplines. You will have knowledge and understanding of the H&S Legislation applicable to the water utilities sector and can demonstrate the deployment of that knowledge to leading and delivering H&S improvement and business change.

Along the way, you’ll have acquired your NEBOSH diploma or equivalent or be willing to work towards it. Professional development in this space is key, so you’ll actively keep up to date with legislation, trends and innovations.

Effective communication and inter-team working is essential in this environment. So, you’ll be a confident communicator and influencer who enjoys collaborative working and knows how to change and reinforce behaviours.

You’ll have experience of project management, leadership and managing budgets.

 The not-so-small print   

This role will be a Grade 8. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £54,776. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £74,386.

We operate Balanced Hybrid working at Scottish Water and we encourage people to work half their time in a Scottish Water location.
