The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview

SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job):

The Healthcare Facilities Specialist keeps hospital equipment running smoothly and ensures building systems stay fully safe and compliant. This role coordinates daily operations for the patient bed and stretcher repair programs, monitors critical facility temperature alarms and maintains essential life safety and preventative maintenance documentation. The role also verifies that hospital facilities meet all DNV and OSHA standards to protect patient care and support operational continuity. Note: this position requires a current driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associate's degree in a related field. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

Experience: Three years of hands-on experience in commercial, institutional or healthcare facility maintenance operations when accompanied by an Associate’s degree. Five years of hands-on experience in commercial, institutional or healthcare facility maintenance operations when accompanied by a high school diploma or equivalent.

Other Credentials: Drivers License

Knowledge and Skills: Solid understanding of acute care hospital operations, with a focus on patient flow, capacity and equipment readiness. Working knowledge of healthcare facility safety codes, including OSHA regulations, ADA accessibility and NFPA life safety standards. Familiarity with automated work order platforms, inventory data entry applications and commercial property maintenance tools. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Clear verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to remain steady and professional during stressful situations or in a fast-paced environment. A natural ability to pivot and stay effective when priorities shift or unexpected needs arise.

Usual Work Day: 8 Hours  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage the facility temperature monitoring system, actively responding to and escalating critical alerts to protect climate-sensitive clinical environments
• Coordinate the Bed Repair Program, tracking maintenance tickets to ensure the timely turnaround and availability of patient-ready beds and stretchers
• Coordinate with internal hospital teams and outside contractors to ensure building repairs and facility maintenance issues are resolved quickly
• Conduct routine facility safety inspections to identify and resolve environmental barriers to a safe and clean environment of care
• Maintain preventative maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with required life safety inspections, system tests and building codes
• Organize internal documentation and regulatory logs to support seamless fire inspections and DNV survey readiness frameworks
• Support emergency response and continuity efforts during building crises, including power outages, floods or utility failures
• Conduct and support staff training sessions and safety drills to help the team practice emergency procedures and meet state safety laws
• Perform other duties as assigned
