What you'll do

  • Safely operate heavy equipment such as wheel loaders, dozers, excavators, cranes, material handlers, haul trucks, and other support equipment

Job Description

Position Summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient operation of large mobile equipment used to support steel‑mill operations. This role plays a critical part in material movement, production support, and site safety. Operators work in a demanding industrial environment where strict safety compliance and operational precision are essential.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to climb onto and off equipment, work at heights, and sit for extended periods
  • Tolerance for heat, noise, dust, vibration, and industrial operating conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within active steel‑mill or industrial processing environments
  • Familiarity with slag handling, materials logistics, or rail‑based operations
  • Equipment certifications or documented training
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for identifying operational issues
