Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time HVAC Pre-Apprentice! In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance for commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The HVAC equipment you will be servicing includes but is not limited to large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers. Location:  Maple Grove, MN - Onsite

What you will do:

  • Assist in service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes

  • Assist in the rebuilding of HVAC units. Receive detailed direction while sharing the hands-on task responsibilities with Journeyman and Foreman

  • Drive a company vehicle if required to and from the jobsite to transport and maintain inventory of hand tools and necessary materials for job completion

  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner

  • Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, and word processing programs

  • Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, verbal, and written communication

  • Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call

  • Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site/online learning modules

  • Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets

  • Wear personal protective equipment when completing service tasks

  • Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record

  • Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district

  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Member of local union or willing to join the union

  • OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)

  • Current first aid / CPR card

The expected hourly rate for this position is $20.00-23.00. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location


Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law. Safety-sensitive positions may require cannabis (marijuana) testing. All testing and employment decisions will comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
