Role Summary
Leads the technical execution of the CDI-PC to IDMC migration. Owns the assessment, wave planning, conversion decisions, and handoff to validation.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment
- Export repository XML using PowerCenter Repository Manager; run or interpret Migration Factory / PC to Cloud Conversion assessment outputs
- Build the asset inventory and dependency sequencing map (mapplets before mappings, always)
- Classify every asset into Simple / Medium / Complex and assign a migration strategy
- Identify manual remediation scope: flag all command tasks, stored procedures, and custom transformations before wave sizing is committed
Conversion
- Execute automated conversion of simple and medium assets using PC2CDI or IDMC's built-in PC to Cloud Conversion utility
- Manually rebuild complex assets — command tasks rewritten as Taskflows, stored procedures evaluated and converted or kept, custom Java transformations rewritten in IDMC native
- Recreate all connections, parameter sets, and schedules in IDMC per wave as a dedicated parallel workstream — these are not part of the automated stream and are owned entirely by this role
- Review and publish converted assets in IDMC Mapping Designer and Taskflow Designer; resolve all flagged conversion issues before passing to validation
Validation and Cutover
- Design SQL reconciliation scripts for mapping-level and business-level validation where CDV is unavailable
- Interpret CDV or manual validation outputs; triage and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare the cutover runbook, define rollback triggers, and execute the mandatory dry run
Required Skills
Must have (will not function without these):
- Informatica PowerCenter 9.x / 10.x — Mapping Designer, Workflow Manager, Workflow Monitor, Repository Manager, all standard and non-standard transformations
- Informatica IDMC / IICS — Mapping Designer, Taskflow Designer, Mapping Tasks, Connections, Parameters, Secure Agent, Monitor
- SQL — complex reconciliation queries, stored procedure reading, PL/SQL or T-SQL, push-down optimisation techniques Informatica Knowledge
- Shell scripting — reading and rewriting existing CDI-PC command task scripts
- PC to Cloud Conversion utility — running conversion projects within IDMC from exported XML
Strong to have:
- PC2CDI Modernization Service or Migration Factory experience
- One cloud platform: Databricks (Delta Lake, Databricks SQL), Snowflake, or Azure Synapse
- UNIX/Linux — file system navigation, job scheduling, log reading
Good to have:
- Python for validation scripting
- Cloud Data Validation (CDV)
- CLAIRE GPT — not essential, accelerates redesign work
