Company Description
We are seeking an IT Database Administrator who will be responsible for installing, configuring, securing, maintaining, and optimizing database platforms to ensure their availability, performance, recoverability, and integrity. The role manages database lifecycle activities, implements backup and disaster recovery controls, monitors and resolves database-related issues, and provides technical support to application and development teams.
Job Description
Database Management
- Install, configure, and upgrade MSSQL and PostgreSQL database servers.
- Create, modify, and maintain database objects, including tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies.
Backup & Recovery - Develop and maintain backup strategies.
- Implement and maintain high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions, including replication, clustering, and failover technologies to ensure data integrity and availability.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain database security and compliance controls.
- Implement database security policies, including role-based access controls, permissions, and encryption.

Performance Optimisation

- Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams to support deployments, migrations, and operational improvements.
- Technical competencies include practical knowledge of relational database platforms; SQL and query-performance analysis; backup, restore, and disaster recovery methods; access control, encryption, and database security; monitoring and troubleshooting tools; and scripting or automation used for repeatable administrative tasks.
