SUMMARY

Tussell is seeking a junior developer with some front-end experience to join our product engineering team.

There's a great opportunity here to help shape how our users experience Tussell's market-leading data. We're re-imagining our user interfaces to make complex public procurement datasets easier to explore, filter and understand, and a junior developer joining now will have plenty of scope to make a visible, lasting impact on the product.

The ideal candidate will have some hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and a keen interest in user interface design. At Tussell we use frameworks, including React.js, along with Ruby on Rails for our web applications and APIs. You don't need years of experience; you could have recently completed a software bootcamp or have a year or two of industry experience. We're looking for a good grasp of software development fundamentals and the enthusiasm to learn our specific design patterns and domain. You'll work closely with our product, design and engineering team to make sure the interfaces we build genuinely serve our users' needs.

Our ideal candidate may not exist.

Please consider applying if you think you can contribute in this role despite not having experience in every area we've identified; we're looking for a Tussell person first and foremost, and skill gaps can be addressed through onboarding, mentoring, and a personal development plan.

ABOUT TUSSELL

Founded in 2015, Tussell is a founder-led and investor-backed tech scale-up based in London.

Tussell's vision is to be the definitive source of market intelligence on UK government contracts. In a climate of unprecedented government spending, our data helps companies to win more public contracts by making better commercial decisions. Our competitive edge is expressed through the richness and reliability of our data, and as a result, over the last decade, we have become the market’s trusted source.

We strive to be a great business, and we’re also proud to make a difference along the way. The enhanced transparency that Tussell fosters makes the government more accountable for spending decisions. It also helps to make public procurement more efficient and accessible, ultimately improving value for money in public services.

Tussell has an entrepreneurial culture and is focused on growing profitably through customer sales, rather than relying on successive rounds of venture capital funding. We have a dynamic, welcoming team meaning we’re small enough for you to know everybody’s name.

THE ROLE

Goal: We're looking for a junior developer with front-end experience to join the team maintaining our Ruby on Rails and React.js applications. This is a hands-on role from day one, working on the UI layer of a live, data-heavy product, with support and mentoring from senior engineers as you learn our specific design patterns and domain.
