About the role

This 12-month maximum term role has become available within our laboratory team and reports to the Laboratory Superintendent. 

The role contributes directly to providing safe, accurate, reliable and timely laboratory analytical services in support of our ammonia and technical ammonium nitrate plants, including routine operations, start-ups, shutdowns, maintenance, troubleshooting and environmental compliance activities. 

 

What you’ll do day-to-day 

  • Sample collection, preparation and preservation 
  • Digestion and sample preparation 
  • UV/Vis and IR analysis 
  • Bench Chemistry including wet Chemistry, titrations, pH, conductivity, gravimetric and potentiometric techniques. 
  • Instrumental analysis including Gas Chromatography (GC), Ion Chromatography (IC), ICP-OES, TOC & TKN. 
  • Ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate product and process analysis 
  • Gas, water, process and environmental sampling and analysis

  • 4 Days On, 4 Days Off roster 
  • Residential role based in Karratha - no FIFO

About you

  • Cert IV or Diploma in Laboratory Techniques, Laboratory Operations, or equivalent. 
  • Experience in an industrial laboratory environment, ideally within chemical processing, mining, oil and gas, petrochemical, or related industries. 
  • Proficiency in sample preparation, wet chemistry, quality control practices, and analytical instrumentation. 
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement. 
  • Well-developed communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience with LIMS and hazardous chemical handling is advantageous. 
  • Australian/New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or unrestricted Australian work rights.
