Join Wilhelmsen Ships Service as a Key Account Manager

Location: Copenhagen | Type: Full-time, Hybrid

Are you a commercially driven sales professional with proven experience in the maritime industry? Do you thrive on developing business, not just maintaining it? Join Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS), a global leader in maritime solutions — and take ownership of a strategic customer portfolio in a role with real commercial impact.

WSS operates in more than 70 countries through 50+ legal entities, delivering essential marine products and services to vessels worldwide. Our customers rely on us to deliver wherever their ships sail — powered by a truly global supply network.

About the Role:

As a Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing and developing a portfolio of key maritime customers. This is a highly commercial, client-facing role where your ability to build relationships, identify opportunities, and close deals will directly impact results.

You’ll work across a global organization, collaborating with technical and commercial teams to deliver value-driven solutions to customers operating internationally.

To succeed in the role and build strong internal and customer networks, we encourage a high degree of in-office presence—especially during the first year—while you get up to speed with our organization, customers, and ways of working.

What you will be doing:

  • Own and grow a portfolio of key maritime accounts with full commercial responsibility

  • Drive profitable sales growth through upselling, cross-selling, and new business development

  • Identify and convert opportunities using market insight, customer knowledge, and internal data

  • Build strong, multilevel relationships with key decision-makers

  • Develop and execute strategic account plans aligned with regional and global targets

  • Lead customer meetings, negotiations, and commercial discussions

  • Collaborate closely with Technical Sales Managers and Business Development teams to deliver tailored solutions

  • Maintain high-quality pipeline and CRM data (Salesforce), leveraging digital tools to drive efficiency and insight

Who you are:

  • Proven experience in commercial roles within the maritime industry (shipping, marine services, ship management, or similar)

  • Strong track record of driving sales growth and closing deals

  • Solid commercial mindset with the ability to identify and act on business opportunities

  • Experience managing complex, international customer relationships

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills

  • Structured and self-driven, with a proactive approach to sales

  • Fluent in English (Nordic languages are an advantage)

  • Relationship-focused, but equally motivated by achieving growth targets

  • Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working in an international environment

  • Curious about new technologies, including AI, and motivated to explore smarter, more effective ways of working

What We Offer

  • A dynamic, international work environment with a strong commercial focus

  • High level of ownership and autonomy in your role

  • Professional development and career growth within a global organization

  • Flexible working arrangements

  • Competitive benefits package, including:

    • Attractive compensation and bonus scheme

    • Pension and insurance

    • Generous annual leave
