GCI - Professor Katie Cockburn's Lab (Histology Innovation Platform)

Position Summary:

**This is a work-study position. Only McGill Students with work-study confirmation letter covering the contract period will be eligible to apply. **

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the lab helper will assist in performing laboratory tests and experiments such as:

  • Tissue Cassetting and Grossing
  • Tissue Processing
  • Tissue Embedding
  • Slide Printing
  • Quality Control
  • Distributes and tracks items, such as lab parcels and provides customer service when necessary.
  • Assists with equipment maintenance and lab operations; collects and enters data into established inventory databases.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:

  • Scientific background and knowledge.
  • Experience in a wet lab.
  • Experience in histological techniques preferred.
  • Organization, attention to detail and ability to work in a team are important for this position

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma with minimal or no experience
  • Preference will be for candidates with some previous experience in research and/or laboratory settings
  • Candidate must be a McGill student with work-study eligibility.
