Hiring Unit:
GCI - Professor Katie Cockburn's Lab (Histology Innovation Platform)
Position Summary:
**This is a work-study position. Only McGill Students with work-study confirmation letter covering the contract period will be eligible to apply. **
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the lab helper will assist in performing laboratory tests and experiments such as:
- Tissue Cassetting and Grossing
- Tissue Processing
- Tissue Embedding
- Slide Printing
- Quality Control
- Distributes and tracks items, such as lab parcels and provides customer service when necessary.
- Assists with equipment maintenance and lab operations; collects and enters data into established inventory databases.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
- Scientific background and knowledge.
- Experience in a wet lab.
- Experience in histological techniques preferred.
- Organization, attention to detail and ability to work in a team are important for this position
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma with minimal or no experience
- Preference will be for candidates with some previous experience in research and/or laboratory settings
- Candidate must be a McGill student with work-study eligibility.
