- Perform a variety of tasks following established techniques and procedures.
- Assist in study execution; collects samples from and administers agents to research animals as IACUC approved studies require.
- Works with a variety of animal species and tasks will involve both in-vivo and in-vitro procedures.
- Documents laboratory work to acceptable standards and maintains laboratory/medical equipment and supplies in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and regulations.
- Assist in administrative functions of study execution such as labeling collection tubes and transporting supplies to appropriate area.

- Must be able to wear a respirator and protective clothing or equipment.
- A Post-offer physical and background check/security clearance are required.
- Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Nice to have
- Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
- ALAT and LAT certification is preferred.
- Incumbent is encouraged to sit for ALAT and/or LAT within 12 months as a level 2 technician.
- LAT and/or LATG within the first 24 months is encouraged.

Overview
Under general direction, the Laboratory Animal Sciences Technician will perform a variety of tasks following established techniques and procedures. Assist in study execution; collects samples from and administers agents to research animals as IACUC approved studies require. Works with a variety of animal species and tasks will involve both in-vivo and in-vitro procedures.
Documents laboratory work to acceptable standards and maintains laboratory/medical equipment and supplies in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and regulations. The successful candidate will assist in administrative functions of study execution such as labeling collection tubes and transporting supplies to appropriate area.
Work Schedule: 6:30am-3:00pm; Sun - Thurs or Tuesday - Saturday based on hiring needs. Schedules are subject to change based on study needs.

Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a wet laboratory environment. Will operate standard laboratory equipment and will frequently stand, walk, sit, perform lab- and desk-based computer tasks, perform laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, perform repetitive motions and occasionally lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator. Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
