What you'll do

  • Receive and sort soil and water samples, assign tests in accordance with the LIMS database and prepare batch sheets in Microsoft Excel.
  • Weigh samples and transfer subsamples to the appropriate departments in the laboratory
  • Extract analytes from water/soil samples as directed by the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure traceability of samples prepared or vialled.
  • Perform quality control tests.
  • Prioritise samples accordingly as per turn around times (urgent samples).
  • Treat quarantine samples in accordance with quarantine procedures as directed by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) approved representative.
  • Discard waste in accordance with safety and environmental considerations.
  • Replenish consumable items (e.g. pipettes, vials, solvents).
  • Perform calibrations of POVAs such as syringes, steppers and solvent dispensers and other lab equipment.
  • Keep the laboratory clean and in order.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the business and directed by management.

Eurofins Environment Testing Australia is an Environmental testing network of fully accredited laboratories. With a staff of over 300 our laboratories are located in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and with Client Service Offices located in Adelaide, Darwin, Newcastle and Wollongong. We also operate field sampling services out of Melbourne and Sydney. We specialise in all areas of Environmental analysis, including Contaminated Soil, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Soil Vapour, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Stack Emissions, Work Place Air, Ambient Air, Dust, Drinking Water, Surface Water run off, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater. 

Job Description

  • Casual positions based in Murarrie, Brisbane, QLD
  • Multiple shifts available: Day and Afternoon
  • An extra 1.5% superannuation paid on top of National standard rate
  • 25% shift loading for casual positions
  • Flexible shift times - ideal for uni students
  • Reporting to the Section Supervisor, a laboratory technician will be primarily responsible for sample preparation and involved in some analysis and other lab duties.

    Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
