  • Clear can jams from Lacquer Spray Machines (LSMs) and upper conveyors to ensure smooth operation.
  • Inspect and monitor the following: clear can works, overall quality of cans, Lacquer pressure of LSMs, Lacquer temperature, and copper sulfate checks on flanges.
  • Conduct and record required process control checks, including metal exposure of cans, weight of lacquer on inside of cans, and film weight distribution.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as setting guns, nozzles, can guides, and spray delays.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, including replacing drive and conveyer belts.
  • Conduct Equipment Set-up evaluations (ESE) on LSMs after adjustment or modifications.
  • Monitor and assist other production areas to ensure a smooth flow of cans.
  • Follow proper material handling procedures, including the disposal of waste lacquer and labeling of waste barrels.
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirement.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines, including spray nozzles, turret wheels, lacquer overspray boxes, machine exteriors, and the general work area.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Job Description:

Position Overview:

The Lacquer Spray Machine (L.S.M.) Operators are responsible for the safe and proper application of the lacquer spray coating to the inside of the can in compliance with quality control specifications.  They have primary control of the processing of cans from the point of infeeding of cans into the conveying above the spray machines, until they reach the Internal Bake Ovens (I.B.O.’s).
