Lead Architect (SAP Commerce Cloud)

We are recruiting a Lead Architect – SAP Commerce Cloud with strong technical leadership and a solid software architecture mindset for our client, an international group with 30 years of presence in Romania, whose polymer-based solutions shape everyday life. You’ll join their growing IT team in Bucharest and help drive modern, scalable digital platforms.

In this role, you will be responsible for the technical development of the SAP Commerce Cloud backend and for defining and implementing software architecture and development standards across the sub-group. You’ll act as the interface between development, operations, external implementation partners, and global IT governance functions — providing technical leadership in projects and coaching internal development teams.

Main Responsibilities

Backend Development and Technical Delivery

• Lead backend development for SAP Commerce Cloud

• Define and implement technical concepts, APIs, and integration logic

• Evaluate and introduce suitable new features, extensions, and integrations

• Ensure the performance, stability, and security standards of the solutions

Software Architecture and Standards

• Develop and maintain an organization-wide software architecture and development guideline

• Define technical standards, including programming languages, frameworks, naming conventions, coding guidelines, and operating models

• Establish an architecture blueprint for software solutions across the business unit and implement the related governance

• Ensure global compliance with defined software requirements

Collaboration and Technical Leadership

• Manage external development service providers and ensure the quality of their work

• Advise project teams on architecture decisions and technology selection

• Provide technical leadership in projects and coach internal development teams

• Work closely with Enterprise Architecture, IT Operations, and Security

• Foster a consistent development and software culture across the organization

Requirements

• University degree in computer science, business informatics, or a comparable qualification

• Several years of experience in software development and software architecture

• Extensive knowledge of modern software architectures, particularly microservices, API design, cloud-native development, and DevOps

• Experience introducing and enforcing coding and architecture standards

• Experience managing external development partners

• Strategic and conceptual thinking combined with a strong hands-on mentality

• High degree of ownership and assertiveness

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate organization-wide architecture decisions in an understandable way

• Experience providing technical leadership and coaching development teams

• English: business proficient / negotiation level

Nice to Have

• Experience with Java, Spring, and SAP Commerce Cloud

• Good working knowledge of German
