About this role

Title: Lead Production Technologist

Location: Billingham UK

We’re looking for a Lead Production Technologist to lead GMP manufacturing and technology transfer operations within our Billingham facility. You’ll be the primary manufacturing contact from batch preparation through execution and disposition, ensuring EHS and cGMP standards are met while coordinating resources to deliver to plan. You’ll also lead investigations, contribute to continuous improvement, interact with customers and regulatory bodies, and provide line leadership for a small team.

What you’ll do

  • Lead by example to uphold a strong EHS and GMP culture; proactively challenge and improve practices on the shop floor.
  • Serve as the manufacturing process expert across technology transfer and GMP execution, including batch prep, manufacture, and disposition.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional program teams to author/review process documentation and ensure safe, compliant, and robust operations.
  • Build, monitor, and adjust manufacturing plans; coordinate team resources to meet schedule targets and milestones.
  • Make informed decisions that assess and protect product quality, applying strong cGMP knowledge and principles.
  • Lead root cause analyses with development and engineering to resolve process deviations and failures.
  • Engage with customers and regulatory agencies during audits, visits, and manufacturing status updates.
  • Provide day-to-day line management for up to six team members, including coaching, delegation, and performance support.

What you’ll bring (minimum)

  • Grade C (or equivalent) or above in GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent qualification).
  • 3+ years’ experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Experience authoring and/or reviewing GMP documentation.
  • Understanding of biopharmaceutical USP/DSP manufacturing processes.
  • Flexibility for on-demand working/on-call as needed.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, delegate, and coordinate in a dynamic environment.
