Essential Functions:

  • Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
  • Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Observes and assesses children's development and growth.
  • Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment.

Education Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active Child Development Associate (CDA) certification within one year of hire, preferred.
  • 24 annual hours of Ohio-Approved Professional Development tracked by department, unless Associate's Degree or CDA certification is maintained, required.

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals.

  • Able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit (on floor) in close proximity to children during play and activity periods. Constantly
  • Ability to lift a child into a crib and place them in it safely. Constantly
  • Ability to actively supervise children during gross motor play. Constantly
  • Ability to move rapidly in potentially unsafe physical situations: example: a child falling off the climber. Constantly
  • Ability to bend over quickly to pick up children by their torso, not by their arms. Constantly
