Job Overview:

The Li-Ion Battery Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of lithium-ion battery systems. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing technical repairs, and ensuring that battery systems operate efficiently and safely. The technician will work both in the field and in a workshop setting to address service requests and support battery system installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service and Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on lithium-ion battery systems, including cells, modules, and battery packs. Ensure that all service activities are completed to a high standard and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnosis and Troubleshooting: Diagnose battery system issues using diagnostic tools and techniques. Identify problems related to electrical performance, mechanical integrity, and thermal management, and provide effective solutions.
  • Installation and Commissioning: Assist with the installation and commissioning of new lithium-ion battery systems, ensuring proper setup, calibration, and integration with existing systems.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding battery system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Address customer concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service activities, including repair logs, maintenance schedules, and parts used. Prepare and submit service reports to management and customers as required.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines while working with lithium-ion batteries. Ensure that safety protocols are followed during servicing, including proper handling and disposal of battery materials.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of service parts and tools. Order and maintain necessary parts and supplies to support service activities.
  • Training and Development: Stay current with advancements in battery technology and service techniques. Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Field Work: Travel to customer sites or field locations to perform service tasks, troubleshoot issues, and provide on-site support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in servicing or maintaining battery systems, with a focus on lithium-ion technology. Experience with electrical systems and troubleshooting is essential.
  • Skills:
  • Strong technical knowledge of lithium-ion battery systems, including cells, packs, and associated electronics.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment for battery testing and repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures and safety protocols.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with customers and documenting service activities.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in electronics, battery technology, or safety are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and handle battery systems and equipment.
  • Capability to work in various environments, including confined spaces and outdoor locations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with potential for occasional overtime based on service demands.
  • Travel to customer sites may be required, including occasional overnight stays.
