About this role

At Meridio, we believe health benefits should be easier to understand and manage. We help businesses and their teams navigate their options with clear guidance, affordable choices, and personal support along the way.

We’re looking for a Licensed Benefits Enrollment Specialist—what we call a Benefit Guide—to help our clients' employees understand their options and choose coverage that works for them and their families. You’ll meet one-on-one with their employees by phone or video, explain benefits in plain language, guide them through enrollment, and make sure everything is completed accurately and with care.

You’ll report to our Guide Team Manager. This is a remote contract role with the potential to convert to full-time based on business needs, performance, and mutual fit. Conversion isn’t guaranteed.

If you hold an active health and life insurance license, know benefits, enjoy helping people, and can make complicated information easier to understand, we’d love to meet you!

What You’ll Do

Guide Our Clients’ Employees Through Their Benefits

  • Conduct one-on-one benefit consultations by phone or virtual meeting.

  • Explain available medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefit options.

  • Review plan costs, coverage, limitations, eligibility requirements, provider networks, and prescription coverage.

  • Help employees compare options based on their individual and family needs.

  • Answer questions clearly and provide next steps when follow-up is needed.

Manage Enrollment Accurately

  • Complete enrollment applications and collect required employee information.

  • Verify eligibility, employer contributions, payroll deductions, and effective dates.

  • Process direct-pay enrollments and payment information when applicable.

  • Make sure enrollments meet carrier, company, and compliance requirements.

  • Follow up on missing information and resolve or escalate open questions.

Stay Prepared and Informed

  • Review each client’s benefit offerings, eligibility rules, contribution amounts, and enrollment guidelines before consultations.

  • Stay current on benefit products, carrier updates, company procedures, licensing requirements, and continuing education.

  • Maintain clear and complete notes in Meridio’s systems.

  • Work with Client Success, Coverage, Operations, and carriers to resolve enrollment issues.

  • Share recurring questions or process issues that could help us improve how we work.

What Success Looks Like

  • Our clients’ employees receive clear, accurate information and feel supported throughout enrollment.

  • Enrollments are completed correctly and on time.

  • Consultations are prepared for, documented, and followed through.

  • Questions and issues are resolved or escalated quickly.

  • You’re dependable, responsive, and comfortable working independently.

About You

You’re the kind of person who:

  • Enjoys helping people make decisions that can feel personal or overwhelming.

  • Can explain insurance without relying on jargon.

  • Is patient and approachable while keeping conversations focused.

  • Pays attention to details and follows through on what you say you’ll do.

  • Is comfortable working at a growing startup where some processes are still being built.

What You Bring

  • An active resident-state Health and Life Insurance License in good standing.

  • The ability and willingness to obtain additional non-resident licenses as needed.

  • Experience in employee benefits, health insurance, benefits enrollment, or a similar customer-facing role.

  • Knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefit products.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.

  • Comfort using virtual meeting tools, carrier portals, benefit administration platforms, and customer-tracking systems.

  • The ability to handle personal and benefit information confidentially.

  • Personal Computer, strong dependable internet connection

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with remote enrollments

  • Experience with ACA-compliant health plans, ancillary products, or direct-pay enrollments.

  • Experience supporting high-volume enrollment or renewal periods.

  • Active licenses in multiple states or familiarity with NIPR and nonresident licensing.

  • Bilingual communication skills.

Contract Details

  • Contract role: This position will begin as a contractor engagement.

  • Remote with flexibility: You’ll work remotely and need weekday availability for scheduled consultations, enrollment deadlines, and busier enrollment periods.

  • Potential to convert: The role may convert to full-time based on business needs, performance, and mutual fit. Conversion is not guaranteed.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Meaningful work: You’ll help our clients’ employees understand benefits that matter to them and their families.

  • A supportive team: We work together, communicate openly, and help each other solve problems.
