What you'll do

  • Navigate the full lifecycle of an order—from inbound load building to outbound tendering—using our advanced TMS and collaborating seamlessly with WMS platforms to maximize peak facility potential.
  • Take complete ownership of freight planning through the cross-dock facility, ensuring all inbound and outbound shipments are strictly planned and executed based on FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles to maintain optimal throughput and avoid dwell times.
  • Build powerhouse relationships with customer-selected carriers. Leverage pre-planned static routes and select the lowest-cost, most efficient providers from participating carriers, ensuring dock schedules align for continuous delivery.
  • Proactively identify performance trends, resolve shipment errors, and prevent dock bottlenecks. Ensure customer freight visibility by managing ASN/EDI data flows, as well as CSV shipment file uploads for non-EDI information.
  • Train new users on our systems (TMS/WMS interactions) and document standard operating procedures that set the gold standard for cross-dock operational excellence.
  • Serve as the critical link between shippers, receivers, facility operators, and carriers to resolve complex transloading and logistical challenges with professional poise.

What they're looking for

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, or cross-dock operations (A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field may be considered in lieu of experience).
  • Foundational working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory flow principles, including FIFO.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management.
  • 3+ years of deep experience in the logistics industry, with specific experience in a cross-dock or fast-paced transload facility.
  • Proven ability to collaborate between TMS and WMS systems to drive operational alignment.
  • Analytical Mindset: Familiarity with BI and Tableau reporting to turn data into actionable insights for facility and freight performance.
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.

About the Role

Uber Freight is looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our Cross Dock Center of Excellence. This isn't just about moving freight; it’s about mastering the complexity of modern cross-dock logistics. You will be the architect of efficient transportation and facility flow strategies, leveraging cutting-edge technology to ensure high-stakes shipments maintain strict FIFO compliance, reach their destinations on time, and help mitigate impacts to the customer's budget.

If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your decisions directly impact the bottom line, facility throughput, and the customer experience, this is the place to build your career.

Why Join Us?

  • Technological Edge: Work with and integrate industry-leading Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and data tools.
  • Impact: You aren't just following a process; you’re analyzing freight flows, preventing bottlenecks, and recommending improvements that shape our cross-dock transportation strategy while minimizing downstream impacts.

What the Candidate Will Do

  • Master the Cycle: Navigate the full lifecycle of an order—from inbound load building to outbound tendering—using our advanced TMS and collaborating seamlessly with WMS platforms to maximize peak facility potential.
  • FIFO & Freight Flow Ownership: Take complete ownership of freight planning through the cross-dock facility, ensuring all inbound and outbound shipments are strictly planned and executed based on FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles to maintain optimal throughput and avoid dwell times.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Scheduling: Build powerhouse relationships with customer-selected carriers. Leverage pre-planned static routes and select the lowest-cost, most efficient providers from participating carriers, ensuring dock schedules align for continuous delivery.
  • Data-Driven Problem Solving: Proactively identify performance trends, resolve shipment errors, and prevent dock bottlenecks. Ensure customer freight visibility by managing ASN/EDI data flows, as well as CSV shipment file uploads for non-EDI information.
  • Act as an Advisor: Train new users on our systems (TMS/WMS interactions) and document standard operating procedures that set the gold standard for cross-dock operational excellence.
  • Collaborative Resolution: Serve as the critical link between shippers, receivers, facility operators, and carriers to resolve complex transloading and logistical challenges with professional poise.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, or cross-dock operations (A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field may be considered in lieu of experience).
