What you'll do

  • Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks which requires a thorough knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
  • Work from CAD data, engineering drawing, rough sketches, manuals or verbal instructions.
  • Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, vertical end mill, lathe, band saw, wire welder, arc welder, gas welder, cutting torch, surface grinder and CNC equipment.
  • Maintain work area and operate equipment according to equipment specification so as to ensure quality parts and safe operation.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc..
  • Follow machine safety procedures as applicable such as rigging and lockout/ tagout.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Overview

Utilizes manual machining equipment to produce replacement and new metal parts for mechanical equipment repairs. Fabricate metal parts for experimental apparatus, prototype equipment, new production equipment, tools or dies, working from drawing, blueprints, verbal or written instructions.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift heavy parts or equipment up to 75 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Able to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts safely. Able to move furniture, desks, and equipment.
  • Job requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and crawling into tight spaces.
  • Environment is not air conditioned.

Compensation for this position

The starting pay rate for this position is $24.33/hour and at one year $25.95/hour. The listed contractual rates excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits.
