What you'll do

  • Demonstrates attention to detail, careful work practices, and product knowledge.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, tooling changes, modification, and repair on machine tooling.
  • Perform mold assessments and repairs by reviewing last shots, history sheets, and providing production support for molds in use.
  • Interprets drawings and/ or proven part models to write programs for the CNC machines that include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance to product specifications, to the extent of individual skill.
  • Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to resolve dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements to improve efficiency.
  • Builds set-up sheets based on tooling selection criteria.
  • Monitors and verifies the accuracy of each job's initial set-up and outcome.
  • Revises programs and documents based on engineering changes.
  • Maintains library of programs in the vault.
  • Responsible for process improvements and machine time reductions including tool and new product program testing.
  • Conducts general area and workstation housekeeping for maintaining a clean and safe work area, including clean up at work sites.
  • Stores inventory and materials in neat and labeled areas consistent with 5S and safety principles.

We currently have a phenomenal opportunity as a Machinist! This role is based at our facility in Huntsville, Alabama. This will be for a day shift 6:30am-3pm with an option to work 4 10-hour shifts will alternating Fridays and Mondays.

Summary:

The Machinist supports plant operations by using CNC and/or manual machining knowledge to modify, repair, and/or maintain various equipment and tooling. Higher level technicians write CNC programming, to include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds, to generate quality parts in accordance with product specifications. Applies niche knowledge in addition to routine work area procedures to complete activities. Resolves task related problems of varying complexity, ranging from straightforward to highly sophisticated, and with considerable latitude and independent judgement. Ability to perform duties safely with limited supervision.
