About the Opportunity

At Metcash, we're looking for a commercially minded Commercial Partner (Tobacco) to join our Trading team and play a pivotal role in driving category performance, profitability and growth.

Partnering closely with Category Managers, the Head of Trade and key stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain and Sales, you'll provide the insights, analysis and commercial expertise that help turn opportunities into results. From supplier negotiations and forecasting to pricing, investment decisions and performance reporting, you'll be at the centre of strategic decision making.

 

In this Role, You Will:

• Partner with Trading leaders to improve commercial outcomes and category performance.
• Deliver insightful analysis, KPI reporting and actionable recommendations.
• Support supplier negotiations, Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and trading terms discussions.
• Lead forecasting, budgeting and performance planning activities.
• Drive inventory optimisation and aged stock management.
• Identify commercial opportunities, risks and income recovery initiatives.
• Develop or redesign PowerBI dashboards that translate performance insights into clear actions for Trading, State and Channel teams.

 

You’ll bring:

• Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability.
• Experience in financial modelling, forecasting and business partnering.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Understanding of category management, pricing and profit drivers.
• Experience with data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI or Circana is highly regarded.
• Ability to co-develop commercial strategies and translate insights into practical action plans
• Strong understanding of the Retail landscape with the ability to connect category performance to commercial outcomes.
