Senior Mainframe Systems Engineer / System Programmer

We are supporting a leading global technology and infrastructure services organisation on a large-scale enterprise transformation programme focused on modernising and migrating critical mainframe environments.

We are looking for experienced Mainframe Systems Engineers, System Programmers and Technical Leaders to join a long-term programme supporting the transformation of enterprise-scale IBM z/OS environments. Successful candidates will play a key role in the planning, engineering, implementation and migration of core mainframe infrastructure solutions.

• Mainframe Systems Programming

• Mainframe Migration and Transformation Programmes
• Product Installation, Configuration and Upgrades
• Technical Planning and Implementation
• Enterprise Mainframe Environments
• Technical Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis
• Infrastructure Migration and Modernisation Initiatives

experience in one or more of the following domains is highly desirable:

• Mainframe Storage
• DB2 for z/OS
• Mainframe Automation
• CA/Broadcom Technologies
• Migration of CA/Broadcom solutions to IBM technologies
• Enterprise-scale Banking, Insurance or IT Services environments

Key Responsibilities

• Support large-scale mainframe transformation and migration initiatives
• Design migration approaches and implementation plans
• Install, configure and maintain infrastructure products within z/OS environments
• Participate in the migration of legacy tooling and infrastructure solutions
• Produce technical documentation and operational handover material
• Collaborate with architecture, engineering and programme teams
• Support solution implementation, testing and troubleshooting activities
• Contribute to planning and execution of enterprise transformation projects

Required experience

• 10+ years of Mainframe experience
• Strong Systems Programming or Systems Engineering background
• Extensive experience working within IBM z/OS environments
• experience installing, configuring and supporting infrastructure products
• experience working on migration, upgrade or transformation programmes
• Strong technical documentation skills
• Excellent communication skills in English

Nice to Have

• experience migrating CA/Broadcom products to IBM solutions
• Knowledge of Mainframe Storage, DB2 for z/OS or Mainframe Automation
• experience working in enterprise-scale mainframe environments
• Previous experience within large transformation or modernisation programmes
