Position: Maintenance and Chemical TechnicianReports to: Plant Manager, Production/Quality SupervisorShift: Monday to Friday – 10 hours/day, limited weekends as neededHourly rate: $25 The US hourly rate for this position is $25 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums. Scope of the Position The Maintenance & Chemical Technician supports safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations by performing maintenance, operating production and material handling equipment, blending and testing chemical products, and assisting with receiving and inventory activities. This role is responsible for maintaining plant equipment, ensuring chemical products are blended and tested to quality standards, verifying the safe receipt and transfer of chemicals, and following all environmental, health, safety, and operating procedures. What You Need To Be Successful 

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong communication skills in English (reading, writing, and verbal), required for safety communication and documentation.
• 2-3 years of industrial manufacturing and maintenance experience preferred.
• Industrial maintenance experience (welding/metal fabrication, plumbing, pump repair and installation, etc.).
• Solid mathematical skills for measurements, calculations, and blending operations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities. 

Work Environment 

Must be able to perform under the following conditions:

•  Work in awkward or confining workspaces.
•  Work in elevated places.
•  Work in outdoor environment.
•  Work in noisy environment.
•  Work in areas that are dusty and have some odor from chemicals and etc.
•  Safety is a job requirement.
•  Able to work in Adverse Weather Conditions.
•  Required use of PPE.

  Responsibilities

 

• Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and replace plant equipment to restore and sustain safe operating conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with the Plant Manager and minimize equipment downtime.
• Safely load, unload, transfer, fill, and package chemical products in bulk tanks, totes, drums, pails, and tank trucks.
• Verify incoming chemicals are unloaded into the correct storage tanks by confirming product identity and tank assignments prior to unloading.
• Prepare and blend magnesium slurries, lime slurries, and other customer-specific chemical blends according to established formulas and operating procedures.
• Perform product quality testing, record test results, and verify products meet quality specifications before release or shipment.
• Operate plant equipment including pumps, valves, gauges, mixers, air-operated filling systems, scales, and other production equipment.
• Connect and disconnect hoses, valves, and fittings while ensuring proper containment and spill prevention.
• Accurately fill containers to specified weights and volumes using manual or automated filling systems.
• Ensure all containers are properly labeled in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare raw materials and finished products for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other approved material-handling equipment safely.
• Support chemical spill response and cleanup using appropriate equipment and procedures.
• Assist with general facility maintenance, housekeeping, minor plumbing repairs, yard upkeep, and rail spur maintenance.
• Cross-train in production, receiving, and shipping functions and provide operational support as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
• Comply with all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) requirements, OSHA regulations, and applicable environmental regulations, including the proper use of required PPE.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
