Job Description:

Maintenance:

Dismantle production machines after all guarding, dials, rails, nests, etc (line mechanic functions) have been removed. Check for broken or worn parts after dismantling equipment after a group leader and a line mechanic have tried to fix/resolve the issue. Repair broken or worn parts that are not one on one except under turrets, compound machines, swangrens, etc. Refer parts needing further repair to supervisor. Reassemble production machines after repairs are finished. Must be able to interpret drawings Dismantles, sharpens dresses or changes, assembles and reassembles tools and dies used in production. Adjust machines for proper functioning. Assist in the move, relocate and set up units. Operate forklift truck occasionally. Repair sheet metal guard, chutes and equipment.

MACHINIST:

Plans & perform complicated and diversified work. Works very close to tolerance with only general instructions. Make parts for experimental purposes from rough sketches. Work frequently consists of multiple surface cuts.  Determines operation details from blueprints. Check tools for condition and performance. Determines and uses proper feeds and speeds of grinding, mills etc. to obtain desired finish at maximum efficiency. With the use of proper gauges, inspects all pieces according to drawing specifications, grinds all types of cutting tools.  Lubricates machines before using. Cleans machinery parts as required.  Occasionally required to do acetylene welding and cutting. Repairs all plant equipment by dismantling, making parts, reassembling and testing. Does own layout of work. Operates all types of Machine Shop equipment. Dismantles, sharpens, dresses or changes and reassembles tools and dies used in production. Dismantles, repairs, and reassembles production machines and equipment. Perform welding and cutting on plant machinery and equipment. Builds, repairs and adjusts chutes, guards, and guarding hoods. Grinds all types of cutting tools.

TOOL & DIE:

Plans & perform complicated and diversified work. Makes experimental tool and die parts. Does own layout of work. Microfinishes as required. Inspect all pieces according to drawing specifications. Assembles finished tool and die parts. Troubleshoot, assist in tooling. Takes apart, sharpens, dress or changes and reassembles tools and dies. Tries out assembled parts in cap producing machines. Cleans machine equipment.

ALL AREAS MUST:

Maintain clean work area. Maintain quality standards as prescribed by Management. Do other work as assigned by supervision.  May be required to work in other departments and on related jobs.
