As Maintenance Technician you provide maintenance support to the entire Caterpillar Desford facility.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining equipment and using a computerised maintenance system.

  • Responding to equipment breakdowns and completing repairs to equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions on industrial/assembly equipment, machinery and building as required.

  • Perform preventative maintenance as per schedules.

  • Order replacement parts and stocks.

  • Adhere to the company's Health & Safety policy and safe working practices.

  • Adhere to Caterpillar's Values in Action: Integrity, Commitment, Excellence, Teamwork.

  • Undertake training/further learning as required.

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in diagnosing and resolving issues across both electrical and mechanical systems within industrial environments.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Strong critical thinking ability to identify underlying problems and implement effective, lasting solutions.

  • Self-Motivation & Initiative: Capable of working independently, taking ownership of tasks, and proactively addressing maintenance needs.

  • Collaborative Mindset: Works effectively as part of a team, contributing to shared goals and maintaining a positive, cooperative work environment.

  • Adaptability & Flexibility: Comfortable with changing priorities and schedules, including availability for out-of-hours work when required.

  • Effective Communication: Able to clearly convey technical information and collaborate with colleagues across departments.

  • Organizational Skills: Manages workload efficiently, maintains accurate records, and prioritizes tasks to meet operational needs.

  • Instructional Comprehension: Reads and follows technical documentation, procedures, and verbal instructions with precision.

  • Commitment to Learning: Engages in ongoing training and development to stay current with technological advancements and industry best practices.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in using PLC based systems would be an advantage.

  • Relevant experience working in an industrial / manufacturing environment.

Job Title: Maintenance Technician (Nights)

Salary: £36,450 rising to £40,400 once fully competent + shift allowance
