About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Worker to join our Property Aged Care and play a crucial role in supporting The Salvation Army’s diverse initiatives nationwide.  This is a Max Term (12 months) – Part time (22.8 hours/ week) position based in Bethany Aged Care Plus Centre (Port Macquarie, NSW).

Purpose of the Role:

As a collaborative member of the staff team, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the general maintenance of the internal and external environment of the site. They will ensure that the provision of essential safety, preventative and breakdown maintenance is undertaken in consultation with Leadership roles within the organisation. The Maintenance Worker will complete regulatory equipment checks and assist with a variety of housekeeping and support service functions to ensure optimum standards in the physical environment of the site.

Education and Qualifications Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the aged care industry, including the application of the Aged Care Quality & Safety Standards, especially Standard 4 (The Environment)

  • An understanding of building compliance and certification

  • Demonstrated ability in the effective understanding and execution of:

  • Building and grounds maintenance

  • Workplace Health and Safety

  • Risk and hazard management

  • Contractor management

  • Time management

  • Demonstrated understanding and proven ability to select and use suitable tools and techniques, including a strong knowledge of electrical power tools and hand tools

Requirements of the role:

  • National Police Check

  • Valid Drivers license

  • NDIS check
