What you'll do

  • Partner with FP&A to understand quarterly business activities and obtain understanding of expense activity, including open POs
  • Prepare manual journal entries for all PO accruals at period end and quarter end. This will involve reviewing all open POs, understanding GL activity on those POs to date, identifying potential accrual amounts and reviewing those amounts with the FP&A team.
  • All manual processes will need to be documented in detail.
  • Be the SME for expense accounts in key areas, including, but not limited to, Cost of Sales, Contractors, and Marketing. This will involve understanding and documenting the types of activities through those accounts, detailed analysis by account by PO, documenting and correcting any reclasses/errors, and ensuring full tie back to support files each period.
  • Review the prepayments journal for completeness and accuracy. Ensure all activity is reviewed for potential accruals at period end.
  • Support the preparation and review of related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare expense analysis files, performance in-depth analysis and present to Corporate Controller.
  • Champion process improvements within the general ledger function particularly in relation to PO accruals. This would potentially include reviewing and updating existing manual processes, and leveraging new technologies and automation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity.
  • Execute timely and accurate month-end close activities.
  • Support external audit requests (both at consolidated level and Statutory accounts level) related to expense accounts and associated balance sheet accounts.
  • Work with FP&A to support the review of Purchase Orders to ensure correct GL mapping.
  • Supporting of other accounting projects and processes that impact expenses, including software capitalization.

What is the opportunity?:

As an Accounting Manager, focusing on Accruals & Expense Analysis, you'll be a key player in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. You'll blend your expertise in technical accounting with a sharp eye for process optimization, directly impacting our financial reporting and compliance. This role involves collaborating with other Finance teams and continuously working on process improvements to the accounting close.
