About the Role

As part of the Audit Professional Practice Department (APPD), the Audit & Assurance Quality (AAQ) function plays a central role in supporting the consistent delivery of high-quality audits and assurance engagements across BDO. AAQ develops and maintains audit methodology, policies and guidance, monitors compliance with professional and regulatory requirements, and provides technical consultation and support to engagement teams on complex matters.

AAQ also oversees quality management processes, including monitoring and remediation activities, root cause analysis, learning and capability development initiatives. Through these activities, AAQ helps foster a culture of quality, professional scepticism and continuous improvement, reinforcing BDO's commitment to serving the public interest and maintaining stakeholder confidence in our work.

About the Opportunity

 

The Manager – Methodology supports the development, implementation and ongoing enhancement of BDO’s audit methodology, policies, guidance and related tools. The role is responsible for executing and contributing to methodology projects, supporting technical consultations, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and helping engagement teams apply methodology requirements consistently and effectively.

Working closely with engagement teams and AAQ, the Manager will develop a deep understanding of the audit and assurance engagements performed throughout the firm.

Whilst the role will primarily have a focus on methodology, there will be an opportunity and an expectation that the individual will work across many facets of audit and assurance quality.

 

Key duties and responsibilities:

 

Assurance Methodology and Quality Framework

  • Support the development, maintenance and implementation of quality frameworks, methodologies, policies, guidance and tools supporting audit engagements.
  • Execute and contribute to methodology projects and initiatives, taking ownership of assigned workstreams and deliverables.

This role requires strong technical judgement, project management capability and the ability to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining a focus on audit quality and user experience.
