What you'll do

  • Use a variety of Business Intelligence analytical and reporting tools, such as SAS, Python, and Tableau, to provide dynamic reporting on key performance metrics to various stakeholders in GRM and business lines
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from executives and key stakeholders with a sense of urgency. Perform required data pulls and reconciliations to answer questions. Prioritization and working on more than one request at a time is often required
  • Provide actionable insights and meaningful messages from the reporting to drive credit risk decisions
  • Collaborate with Acquisition, Account Management, and Collections teams to provide measurement and reporting on strategic initiatives such as acquisition dynamics and quality, line optimization, and collections effectiveness
  • Support data quality, completeness, reconciliation, and repository management across portfolio monitoring outputs, Credit Risk Proposal submissions, committee materials, and centralized reporting processes.
  • Support risk appetite cycles, including monitoring, analysis, challenge, documentation, and escalation of limit breaches to senior governance forums.
  • Maintain and update key risk appetite and governance documentation, ensuring materials are accurate, current, and aligned with enterprise risk appetite, internal governance frameworks, and business priorities.
  • Partner with stakeholders across business units to identify, assess, and address risks with potential impact on the Bank’s risk appetite
  • Support the preparation, consolidation, quality review, custodianship, and distribution of Senior Credit Committee and related governance forum materials, enabling decision-focused discussions and effective committee execution.
  • Assist with the ongoing enhancement of governance processes, including tracking action items, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and supporting clear, auditable records for approvals, refresh cycles, and change management.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Using our data, continually develop and refine a more holistic customer view.

  • University degree in Business, Engineering, Commerce, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, and/or data engineering
  • Proficiency utilizing a variety of analytical tools including SAS, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, dBeaver, Excel and a solid knowledge and understanding of advanced analytical concepts and methodologies
  • Proactive and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
  • Must be creative, self-starting, results-oriented, and highly motivated with excellent analytical skills
  • A good knowledge of the bank’s lending products, including Credit Cards, Line of Credits, Mortgages, and Auto Loans, and should have familiarity with the Bank’s Risk Management activities

The Manager, Enterprise Credit Risk Governance, will support the design, alignment, implementation, and oversight of the Retail & Small Business risk appetite framework, credit risk governance forums, and key credit risk controls, ensuring consistency with regulatory requirements, enterprise strategy, and risk goals. The individual drives the identification and implementation of best practices, leveraging audit and regulatory insights to address systemic control gaps and strengthen the overall control environment. This role requires strong analytical expertise and a deep understanding of retail and small business credit risk policies and lifecycle processes and operates as a key contributor within the Enterprise Credit Risk Governance team.

 

They will also collaborate extensively with GRM, business lines, technology and analytics teams, operations, audit, regulators, and other stakeholders to support effective governance, oversight, and decision-making across the Bank.

 

Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will:

 

Manage Retail & Small Business Credit Risk Appetite

 

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise risk appetite framework, ensuring alignment with Bank’s credit risk strategy and regulatory standards
  • Support annual risk appetite activities, including limit setting, calibration, methodology review, and independent challenge
  • Monitor risk limits and key performance indicators, ensuring timely identification, escalation, and reporting of deviations against defined thresholds
  • Maintain and update risk appetite documentation, including the Retail Credit Risk Appetite Statement (RAS), ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Assess and incorporate regulatory requirements into controls, proactively identifying gaps and ensuring alignment with internal policies and best practices
  • Partner with stakeholders across business units to identify, assess, and address risks with potential impact on the Bank’s risk appetite

 

Support the Retail & Small Business Credit Risk Appetite and committee reporting

 

  • Support the periodic review and enhancement of enterprise and business line credit risk committee mandates (e.g., Enterprise Senior Credit Committee, Business Line Credit Risk Committee), ensuring alignment with best practices, regulatory expectations, and enterprise risk strategy
  • Ensure effective governance of risk committees by monitoring adherence to mandates, decision quality, and overall forum effectiveness
  • Support the preparation, consolidation, quality, custodianship and distribution of the Senior Credit Committee materials, enabling decision-focused discussions and supporting the Chair and Secretary in effective committee execution

 

Champion Credit Risk Governance & Controls

 

  • Support effective challenge to new initiatives requiring a credit risk assessment under the New Initiatives Risk Assessment (NIRA) framework, ensuring that appropriate risk stakeholders are engaged and that a risk-based rating is provided for each new initiative and / or that action plans are effectively implemented
  • Support with the preparation and consolidation of the quarterly subsidiary board deck in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the management of policy and framework adoption, in support of the Chief Risk Officer
  • Support the execution of audit issues, collaborating with internal auditors, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure transparent communication and cooperation on governance and compliance audit matters
  • Support the Bank’s response to regulatory observations as applicable, collaborating with internal teams, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure timely communication and information is provided
  • Leverage audit and regulatory findings to ensure gaps identified and addressed on a timely basis, enhancing the control environment
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for executive management as required

 

Enhance Relationship Management

 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across GRM, business lines, and key control functions, ensuring that all key parties are consulted, engaged or informed based on the specific topic at hand
  • Influence cross-functional partners (e.g., Risk Technology, Analytics, Audit, Fraud, Provisions, Finance) to drive aligned outcomes
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, communicating risks, insights, and recommendations clearly
  • Ensure business strategies and initiatives are aligned with the Risk Appetite Framework and contribute to cross-functional initiatives, providing risk challenges on business cases, proposals, and implementations
  • Foster collaboration across global retail risk teams and functional partners to ensure consistency in credit risk governance and portfolio oversight
  • Promote disciplined execution aligned with the Bank’s values, Code of Conduct, and control frameworks
  • Ensure strong governance and control effectiveness across all activities, including compliance, operational risk, and AML/ATF obligations
  • Encourage proactive, agile ways of working and continuous improvement within the team
  • Drive continuous improvement by benchmarking practices and embedding lessons learned into governance
