About this role

AIG is looking for a resourceful, strategic communicator to join our global Internal Communications team as a Manager, Internal Communications. This professional will play an integral role in executing and supporting communications strategies for programs and activities in support of our Human Resources and Legal and Compliance. Through strategic communications, this role will help colleagues better understand and engage with the programs, resources and opportunities available throughout their careers at AIG. The ideal candidate is someone who will come to work every day with energy, ideas, and the commitment to drive results.


This position will collaborate closely with other communications professionals across the organization and stakeholder teams. This role reports to the Director, Leadership Communications in support of Human Resources and Legal and Compliance and is based in our New York City headquarters. It is office based 4 days per week, with 1 day remote.


Key Responsibilities:


With a demonstrated track record of successfully developing and implementing communications strategies and plans within a complex, matrixed, global organization, this individual will support a diverse portfolio spanning Talent and Inclusion, Corporate Citizenship, Legal and Compliance and leadership communications. Key responsibilities include:
 

  • Develop and execute communications strategies for Talent and Inclusion priorities, including Learning & Development, Performance Management, Employee Resource Groups and Talent Acquisition, translating complex programs into clear, relevant, on brand and engaging communications for colleagues and leaders.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Citizenship to advise, influence and develop communications in support of colleague volunteerism, community impact and giving initiatives, helping showcase AIG's purpose and values through meaningful stories and engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with Legal and Compliance stakeholders to develop and execute communications supporting employee-facing initiatives, helping colleagues understand important policies, requirements and expectations.
  • Contribute to engaging, high-quality content for internal and external channels that communicates AIG’s progress across all areas of this role’s responsibilities.
  • Build trusted relationships with partners across Human Resources, Legal and Compliance, Global Marketing and Communications and the broader AIG enterprise.
  • Provide strategic guidance and executional support for global initiatives involving organizational change, culture and colleague engagement.
  • Support planning, logistics, content development and successful execution of events in support of Human Resources and Legal and Compliance such as Town Halls, leadership meetings, leadership videos, speaking engagements and other events, as needed.
  • Drive clear, consistent, high-quality communication materials, including, but not limited to, announcements, talking points, scripts, presentations and functional/business articles for our intranet.
  • Manage multiple communications initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring alignment across audiences, messages, channels and timing.
  • Leverage communication metrics to assess effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement and provide data-informed recommendations that strengthen colleague engagement and understanding.



Job Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience developing and crafting internal communications within a complex/matrixed global company. Experience in a regulated industry is preferred but not required.
  • HR or Internal Communication experience, digital experience a plus
  • Able to work well independently and within a team setting. Demonstrate strong judgment and commitment to the highest standards of delivery and execution.
  • Effective communication, project management, facilitation, conflict resolution, analysis, and interpretation, visionary and strategic thinking skills. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident, open and collaborative style.
  • Demonstrates an executive presence and the ability to creatively address challenges and share best practices.
  • Deep and broad business acumen; understanding of various communication channels.
  • Strong relationship management, interpersonal, influencing and networking skills; track record of building relationships across a global, matrixed enterprise.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and comfort with emerging technologies, including AI, and identifies opportunities to improve communications effectiveness and streamline processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field or equivalent experience



For positions based in NYC, the base salary range is $120,000 - $146,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
