Team Description  

Preqin, a part of BlackRock, plays a critical role in transforming private markets data, benchmarks, and analytics for clients globally. The Benchmarks & Indices team is responsible for developing and scaling benchmark and index capabilities across private equity, private credit, real assets, and hedge funds. Working closely with Product, Technology, Aladdin, eFront, Index Services, and client-facing teams, the organization helps embed private markets intelligence directly into investment workflows, enabling institutional investors to make more informed decisions with speed, confidence, and precision. 

Why is your role important? 

This role is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and operating model for one of Preqin's most strategic data franchises. As the MD, Global Head of Derived Data, you will be accountable for Preqin’s benchmark and index datasets and drive overall data quality across Preqin data. You will also partner closely with Product, Technology, and Client teams to deliver market-leading data solutions and data customer services. This role would encompass leadership and strategic direction over Preqin’s benchmarks and indices, covering fund-level benchmarks, asset-level indices, and next-generation benchmark products developed in partnership with Aladdin, eFront and BlackRock Index Services.  
 

As a senior leader, you will influence enterprise priorities, lead a global function, and help shape the future of private markets intelligence. You will also serve as Head of the BlackRock Bangalore office, responsible for site leadership and organizational capability building. 

Key responsibilities

The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities: 

  • Set and execute the global strategy for Client & Benchmarks Data, aligned to BlackRock's private markets and technology priorities.  

  • Define the long-term vision for client intelligence, benchmark data, and analytics capabilities.  

  • Provide executive oversight of data quality, governance, coverage, and scalability.  

  • Lead and manage leaders, develop a global organization, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and client focus.  

  • Partner with Product, Technology, Index services teams to drive client value, adoption, and growth.  

  • Champion data modernization, AI-enabled capabilities, and operational excellence to improve efficiency and scale.  

  • Represent the organization in executive forums, strategic initiatives, and key client engagements.  

  • Ensure strong risk management, governance, and controls appropriate for a global institutional data business. 

  • The role extends beyond functional leadership to encompass enterprise responsibility across a wider stakeholder group, with a mandate to develop and execute talent strategies, cultivate future leaders, and act as a visible ambassador of the firm's culture and leadership principles. 

 

What are we looking for? 

  • 20+ years of experience in financial data, private markets, benchmarks, analytics, or related data businesses.  

  • Proven track record leading large-scale global data organizations and senior leadership teams 

  • Deep understanding of private markets, institutional investors, and data-driven products.  

  • Strong strategic, commercial, and operational leadership capabilities  

  • Experience partnering across Product, Technology, Client, and Commercial functions, lead to change and drive positive outcomes through transformation and innovation  

  • Exceptional executive communication and stakeholder management skills.  

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
