Scope of Position

The Industrial Manufacturing Engineer develops, improves, and sustains manufacturing processes to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role provides hands-on engineering support across machining, fabrication, assembly, testing, and packaging while driving improvements in safety, quality, productivity, cost, and process capability.

This position may provide technical direction and project leadership but does not have direct supervisory responsibility.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is onsite in Woodland, California.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Support

• Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and production methods.
• Provide daily technical support and troubleshoot manufacturing issues with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Materials.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, standard work, routings, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
• Support CNC machining, tooling selection, fixture design, programming improvements, and equipment utilization.
• Use 3D CAD software, including Autodesk Inventor, to support tooling, fixture, equipment, and process design.

Process Improvement & Quality

• Apply DFMA, Lean Manufacturing, mistake-proofing, and statistical methods to improve quality, yield, cycle time, and cost.
• Support new product introduction, product transfers, engineering changes, and process validation.
• Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, risk assessments, test methods, and process-control documentation.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions related to safety, quality, equipment, and process performance.

Projects & Equipment

• Lead or support equipment, tooling, automation, and CAPEX projects from concept through installation and validation.
• Partner with suppliers and vendors to define technical requirements and support equipment or tooling purchases.
• Monitor project scope, cost, timing, safety, quality, and operational performance.
• Partner with EHS to support machine risk assessments, guarding, ergonomics, and safe operating procedures.
• Train operators and technicians on new processes, equipment, tooling, and standard work.
• Perform other projects and duties assigned by the Engineering Manager or Company management.
• Occasional travel may be required to Company locations, suppliers, customers, or training sites.
• Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Maintenance & Engineering Manager or Company management.
• Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
• Six or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or production environment.
• Experience with manufacturing-process development, tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
• Experience with CNC machining processes and CNC programming.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD solid-modeling software, including Autodesk Inventor.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement principles.
• Experience with process capability, statistical analysis, PFMEAs, control plans, and process validation.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, technical specifications, schematics, and GD&T.
• Strong project-management, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
• Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an ISO 9001 or regulated manufacturing environment.
• Experience with SAP or other ERP/MES platforms.
• Experience with automation, robotics, PLCs, or advanced manufacturing technologies.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous-improvement certification.
• Experience managing capital-equipment projects through installation and validation.
• Professional Engineer license or relevant technical certification

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Woodland, California location (Monday – Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.
• Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.
• Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.
• Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.

Pay Range:

The expected salary range for this position is $110K – 115K yearly. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable law.
