  • Interpret process standards and Management / organizational policies to the work force; uphold safety and environmental regulations while complying with terms of contractual labor agreement

This position supports Detroit's vision of becoming the most lean and effective operation in the network. The role focuses on driving performance through waste elimination, process optimization, continuous improvement, and digital transformation.

Responsibilities include leading Lean initiatives, coaching employees on TOS and Lean methodologies, supporting strategic plant objectives, and delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, safety, and productivity. The position also leverages AI, Power BI, and Daimler digital tools to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

Candidates will complete a structured Lean certification program and ultimately serve as change agents by facilitating workshops, leading improvement projects, and developing workforce capabilities across the organization.

Job Description

The Truck Operating System (TOS) encompasses the methods, tools, experiences and philosophies to achieve a lean business model within Daimler Trucks. This position is comprised of the following key elements by which one should develop their lean manufacturing capabilities. Ideally, over the course of 2 - 3 years the prospective candidate would gain experience acting in the following capacities:

  • TOS Specialist Program - 10-week lean certification program administered at DETROIT
  • Complete Lean Consultant Program (4+ projects across multiple business units) and provide post-program guidance/coaching to prospective experts through qualification progression
  • Scope includes Direct & Indirect: Participate in activities which support and drive business targets in operational and indirect areas across Detroit campus / relevant networks
