Manufacturing Test Engr Intern, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering

Amazon Lab126 is the research and development team behind Kindle, Fire TV, Echo, Echo Show, Ring and other Amazon devices. Within Lab126, the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) Manufacturing Test Engineering (MTE) team builds the test systems that verify every device before it reaches a customer. Our stations run on contract manufacturer lines across Asia and North America, and they decide what ships.
MTE is rebuilding factory test around data and AI. We generate test plans with large language models, inspect assemblies with computer vision, and stream every factory measurement into an analytics platform engineers query directly. An intern here works on that platform, not beside it.
You will join a live new product introduction program and own one scoped piece of the factory test solution, from concept through deployment on a production line.


Key job responsibilities
• Write and debug test software (Python, C/C++) for RF, audio, camera, sensor and power test stations
• Build fixtures and bench setups that prove out a new test method before it reaches the line
• Analyze production test data for yield loss, false failures and test time reduction, and quantify what your change recovers
• Run Gauge R&R, correlation and test limit studies for new stations
• Write the test plan your station ships with, and present your results to the team


A day in the life
You start the day with overnight yield and test time data from the factory, then debug a test script or fixture in the lab with your mentor. Afternoons go to a design review with hardware engineers, a DOE on a new sensor test, or a sync with our contract manufacturer team in Asia.
You get a named mentor, a weekly one on one with your manager, and a written project scope on day one. The term closes with a project presentation to AME leadership.


About the team
AME MTE is a global team across Sunnyvale, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hanoi, and we own manufacturing test for the full Amazon Devices portfolio, from first prototype through mass production. Two positions define how we work: a failure that passes on retest is not fixed, and a number that cannot be recomputed is not evidence.

Basic Qualifications

- Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, with a graduation date after the internship term
- Completed coursework or project work in at least one of: electronics, signal processing, embedded systems, test and measurement
- Programming experience in Python, C#, C++ or MATLAB, and Git based development
- Available for a 12 week internship starting summer, 2027 in Hanoi, Vietnam

Preferred Qualifications

- Test automation or instrument control.
- Able to read schematics and work with an oscilloscope, DMM and power supply
- Cpk, Gauge R&R and DOE, and data analysis with pandas, JMP or Minitab
- Exposure to RF, audio or camera test, or to embedded firmware development
- Prior internship, study or research experience in electrical, automation, communication or manufacturing
