The Role

Are you a commercially minded data enthusiast with a knack for translating complex market query data into actionable pricing reality? We have an exciting opportunity for a Market Analyst to join our Pricing and Customer Analysis team. 

Reporting to the Pricing Manager, this is not just about crunching numbers; we are looking for a disciplined, autonomous analyst who can take raw specifications, evaluate what we already have, and turn complex data requests into usable, scalable solutions. You will be confident in extracting and analysing market and consumer data, maintaining business rules, and building applications or tools that drive consumer loyalty and fuel strategic business growth.

This is a fixed-term 18 month contract based in Melbourne. Enjoy flexible working arrangements with 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deep-dive into business data using strong SQL skills to extract insights, analyse consumer data, and build decision-support applications and pricing tools.
  • Take business requirements and market specifications, review existing systems, and marry internal operational data with external market data to deliver practical pricing and product solutions.
  • Work with internal development teams to manage and scale data pipelines responsible for calculating core retail metrics.
  • Manage a substantial chunk of work independently, exercising strong discipline and self-direction to prioritise high-impact analytical projects.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, communicating actionable analytics to guide decision-making and enhance the customer experience.
  • Bring a challenge-the-status-quo mindset to continuously optimise pricing methodologies, reporting frameworks, and business logic.

About You

You are an experienced, self-motivated analyst with strong technical depth who thrives in dynamic environments. You bring:

  • Proven experience using SQL-based transformation tools to build and manage data pipelines. Databricks experience is beneficial.
  • Solid background in commercial data analytics - ideally within the retail energy sector or another dynamic, data-heavy environment.
  • Ability to look under the hood of systems, translate high-level specifications into reality, and construct ad-hoc tools, business models, or applications.
  • High degree of autonomy and discipline to manage, order, and execute a large pipeline of work without needing step-by-step guidance.
  • Exceptional communication with the confidence to translate technical data into strategic insights for business stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Data Analytics, Finance, IT, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
