What you'll do

  • Own and operate Ontic’s MDM operating model, coordinating the day-to-day governance of multiple master data domains including Customer, Product, Platform and Supplier.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Data Owners and distributed Data Stewards across Ontic, facilitating steward forums, working groups, data-quality reviews, and backlog reviews.
  • Act as business product owner for the Semarchy xDM platform, managing the enhancement backlog, gathering business requirements, and prioritizing improvements.
  • Perform light administration and configuration of Semarchy xDM, including updates to match and merge rules, workflows, attributes and minor platform configuration.
  • Monitor and support the operational health of the MDM capability, investigating platform availability, processing bottlenecks, failed transactions and integration issues.
  • Own the complete MDM documentation and training framework, maintaining operating procedures, governance documentation, and business rules.
  • Develop and deliver MDM and data-governance training, including onboarding and ongoing education for Data Stewards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and adoption of MDM, using platform health, adoption metrics, stakeholder feedback and recurring data-quality issues.

As the Master Data Management Specialist, you will own the day-to-day operating model for Ontic’s Master Data Management capability, ensuring master data processes remain effective, reliable, well-governed, and adopted across the business. You will act as the business product owner for the Semarchy xDM platform, partnering with Data Owners, Data Stewards, IT, and external technology partners to maintain and continuously improve the platform and associated business processes.

The role combines strong stakeholder engagement and data governance skills with hands-on platform administration, troubleshooting, documentation, and training. You will play a key role in embedding a sustainable culture of master data ownership and data quality across Ontic’s global organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and operate Ontic’s MDM operating model, coordinating the day-to-day governance of multiple master data domains including Customer, Product, Platform and Supplier, with responsibility expanding as additional domains are introduced.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with Data Owners and distributed Data Stewards across Ontic, facilitating steward forums, working groups, data-quality reviews, backlog reviews and periodic reviews of stewardship ownership and effectiveness.
  • Act as business product owner for the Semarchy xDM platform, managing the enhancement backlog, gathering and documenting business requirements, developing business cases, defining acceptance criteria, coordinating user acceptance testing and prioritizing improvements in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Perform light administration and configuration of Semarchy xDM, including updates to match and merge rules, workflows, attributes and minor platform configuration, while partnering with IT and Semarchy for production promotion, larger technical changes and complex platform issues.
  • Monitor and support the operational health of the MDM capability, investigating platform availability, processing bottlenecks, failed transactions and integration issues to maintain reliable and timely creation of validated and approved golden records. Diagnose issues across Semarchy and connected systems and coordinate resolution with IT, Semarchy and other technology partners as required.
  • Own the complete MDM documentation and training framework, maintaining operating procedures, governance documentation, Data Owner and Data Steward responsibilities, business rules, data-quality controls, match/merge logic, workflows, integration documentation, administration procedures, incident guidance, training materials and change/release records.
  • Develop and deliver MDM and data-governance training, including onboarding and ongoing education for Data Stewards, operational training on MDM workflows and broader education on the importance of master data, data ownership and data quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement and adoption of MDM, using platform health, adoption metrics, stakeholder feedback and recurring data-quality issues to identify opportunities for improvement. Support the introduction of new domains by coordinating business requirements, governance, change management and transition into the established MDM operating model.

Education / Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent practical experience in data management, information systems, technology, business or a related discipline.
  • Relevant MDM, data governance or platform certifications are beneficial but not required.

Additional Information

This is a global role supporting stakeholders primarily across the United Kingdom and United States. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain regular working-hour overlap with colleagues in the UK and US, including the US West Coast.

Occasional travel to Ontic sites may be required, particularly to support stakeholder engagement, training and the rollout of new master data domains.

The role does not act as the Data Owner or Data Steward for business master data. Business Data Owners retain accountability for defining what good data looks like within their respective domains. The Master Data Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring those definitions are supported through appropriate governance, stewardship processes, platform controls, documentation, training and remediation.
