The Material Handler plays a critical role in the efficient operation of our warehouse by safely handling, moving, and organizing tile and stone materials. This position is responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport large, heavy stone slabs and related products, maintain accurate inventory, and support a safe, organized warehouse environment.

Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load, unload, transport, and stage tile, stone slabs, and related materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other designated equipment.
- Operate forklifts while transporting large, heavy, and high-value materials with precision and care to prevent product damage and ensure workplace safety.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage and verify they meet quality standards before handling or shipment.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and material locations.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventories.
- Partner with the inventory control team to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Assist with warehouse layout and storage optimization to improve material flow.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines while operating equipment and performing warehouse duties.
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or incidents promptly.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members, supervisors, suppliers, and carriers to ensure efficient inbound and outbound operations.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of material handling experience in a warehouse environment.
- Demonstrated experience operating forklifts to safely transport large, heavy, or oversized materials—not solely palletized freight.
- Experience loading and unloading flatbed or box trucks with heavy materials.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle heavy products in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in the natural stone, tile, granite, marble, quartz, or building materials industry strongly preferred.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire).
- Experience handling large stone slabs or similarly fragile, oversized materials.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and warehouse management systems.
- Proven ability to handle high-value materials with precision, care, and attention to detail.
