  • Analyze data and collaborate with relevant functions to help determine and apply appropriate ordering, inventory, and replenishment policies.

  • Perform timely post campaign inventory reconciliation activities to ensure project costs are appropriately documented and allocated.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of Excess and Obsolete Inventory. Work directly with Operations and Finance personnel to properly disposition and establish required inventory reserves.
  • Reviewing actual inventory consumption against forecast plans (e.g., PACCT). Make necessary adjustments for repeat production campaigns.
  • Monitor material supply flow and identify current and potential product shortages. Work cross functionally to Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory and supply issues.
  • Develop and maintain SAP master recipes and production versions.
  • Develop process improvements for inventory, manufacturing and production control systems.
  • Assist in maintaining monthly Key Performance Indicators. Provide reports and requested information as needed.

Title: Material Planner I

Division/Site Specific Information

Position will sit onsite at the Florence, SC site and will support the Drug Substance Division (DSD) at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Work schedule will be standard 8-5, M – F fully onsite

Discover Impactful Work:

Under the guidance of the Technical Manager, Production Planning, the Materials Planner I will plan inventory and coordinate the flow of materials to meet production and delivery expectations while minimizing inventory levels. The position will work directly with applicable functions (Purchasing, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, and others) to ensure appropriate and reliable supply of incoming materials and on-time shipment of customer orders.

A Day in the Life:

  • The Materials and Inventory Planner will reflect demand changes in SAP to ensure high accuracy of forecast needs and ensure accuracy in inventory balances, item usage history, and forecasting. 

  • The Materials and Inventory Planner will also assist with managing documentation and ensuring compliance for the Free Trade Zone (FTZ) program, as well as preparing and maintaining the paperwork associated with Temporary Importation Under Bond (TIB).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to learn or perform these essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.

  • Prepare, review, and process FTZ activities in ONESOURCE for inbound receipts, inventory movements, manufacturing activities, and outbound shipments ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with company procedures.

  • Prepare, process, and maintain documentation associated with Temporary Importation Under Bond (TIB) transactions to support duty-free import compliance and timely customs reporting.

Keys to Success:

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma, or equivalent required.

  • Associate degree preferred.
