At Tree Trust we focus on transforming lives and landscapes through three divisions: Career Pathways, Community Forestry, and Landscape Services.

This part-time position is responsible for supporting the full-time mechanic at Tree Trust with the repair and maintenance of tools, equipment, vehicles, facilities, grounds, and other assets.

• Variable part-time hours:  from 12 - 24 hours / week depending on need and availability
• This position pays within the range of $20.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending upon qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain and repair hand tools.
• Maintain and repair gas powered small engines and equipment.
• Maintain and repair heavy equipment.
• Maintain and repair vehicle and trailer fleet.
• Maintain and repair buildings and grounds.
• Safely operate all tools and equipment.
• Transport tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Effectively communicate with team members from various departments, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
• Keep accurate timesheet records.
• Keep shop and storage areas well organized for safety, efficiency, and loss control.

 

Qualifications/Skills Required:

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record as determined by our insurance carrier. 
• Must have three (3) years of experience maintaining equipment/fleet or similar or completed a year of formal mechanical training.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle check.
• Must possess a MN DOT medical certificate.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and be able to complete tasks independently on a deadline.
• Must be able to take work direction.
• Must be teachable, trainable and project a proactive attitude-always looking for the next way to find solutions.
• Must have strong communication skills and be an effective listener.
• Must be reliable, possess a positive attitude and be able to work independently.
• Must strictly adhere to Tree Trust’s safety policies and procedures.
• Must have ability to work effectively with individuals of differing backgrounds, knowledge, and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Technical degree or equivalent.
• Class A CDL
• Experience operating a skid steer and other equipment.
• MIG Welding/Fabrication

Work Environment:  Job will require working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and exposure to elements. This can include heavy to moderate noise, extreme proximity to moving equipment or machinery, proximity to electrical energy, exposure to tools and machines used in construction industries.

Physical demands:  Physical demands require constantly moving, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently ascends/descends a ladder to perform work. Frequently operates machinery and will use hands/fingers and legs to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect and position materials. Frequently required to stand and walk, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Constantly required to communicate with ability to talk and hear.
