What you'll do

  • Collaborate with engineers to provide robust mechanical design and technical support of NSI products and components throughout product lifecycle.
  • Analyze and have input to complex machine designs incorporating motion control systems, robotics, and part handling in accordance with product requirements.
  • Design assemblies and components using SolidWorks.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and bills of materials for the fabrication and assembly of equipment.
  • Provide analysis of drive systems, structural assemblies and sub-components using basic calculation methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Interface with manufacturing to support product assembly, testing, troubleshooting and installation.
  • Interface with project/product management to ensure projects meet schedule and delivery requirements.
  • Develop working knowledge of X-ray and NDT techniques through NSI technical experts and practical application.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews for minor designs with cross functional teams and customers.
  • Collaborate with a cross functional team of software, controls, and NDT engineers to develop innovative solutions
  • Adhere to NSI’s waste management and recycling policies
  • Duties as assigned by manager

As part of Illinois Tool Works (ITW), a Fortune 250 company, we combine the agility of a specialized technology business with the strength and stability of a global industrial powerhouse.

We're seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support existing products and help drive technical innovation across our industrial x-ray, automation, and CT product lines - from prototype to commercialization. This full-time, paid internship is on-site in Rogers, Minnesota, with opportunities to network across NSI and ITW's Minnesota divisions. You'll wrap up the summer by presenting your project and impact to NSI business leaders.

What You will Do:

Compensation Information:

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $19-29/hr. based on education and experience.
