Mechanical Fitter Technician

Location: Kilkenny, Tipperary, Laois and Surrounding Counties

Duration: Permanent

 

Overview of the role:

The Technician is responsible for responding to the day to day issues that occur on sites, carrying out planned and unplanned Maintenance on equipment with minor project work and to provide support to the Maintenance manager.     

The role will involve effective communication and interaction with management, team members, clients, and suppliers so as to ensure that deliverables and company goals are achieved. In executing the role it is paramount that Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company specific.

Duties of the Role include; 

  • Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions and to comply with safety rules, procedures, regulations and codes of practice.

  • Investigate operational issues / system defects to determine the source of the failure and the most appropriate corrective action in order to safely return an item back to operational service.

  • Liaise with and oversee contractors on site to monitor their activities, ensuring safety, compliance and quality of work is maintained at all times.

  • Perform routine testing and servicing of operational equipment across all sites, ensuring traceability by recording the test results in the Computer based Maintenance Management System.

  • Carry out inspection and servicing of mechanical equipment, providing reports and recommendations

  • Ability to work as part of a team and lone working.

  • Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions and to comply with safety rules, procedures, regulations and codes of practice.

  • Investigate operational issues / system defects to determine the source of the failure and the most appropriate corrective action in order to safely return an item back to operational service.

  • Train and mentor apprentices and other members of the Engineering team as required.

  • Complete all identified and relevant training requirements to meet Company and legislative and standards and undertake training in other related activities in order to develop multi-skilling capabilities.

 

Required skills for this role; 

  • Ideally a minimum 3-5 years’ experience in maintenance and breakdowns of processing plants/ equipment, preferably within the water and wastewater industry which will include the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems.

  • Experience working in Water Treatment / Wastewater Treatment / Process Plants

  • Experience with Dosing pumps

  • Mechanical Trade Qualified 

  • Mechanical technical knowledge is mandatory.
