About this role
SUMMARY/PURPOSE |
The Medical Billing and Coding Instructor facilitates meaningful learning of course competencies and proactively supports all facets of the learning environment. This role is responsible for teaching the Medical Billing and Coding course, along with related Medical Administrative Assistant (MAA) courses including Introduction to Insurance, Medical Office Procedures, and Legal and Ethical Principles. Through curriculum development, instruction, and classroom management, this position supports Summit Academy OIC’s mission of preparing students for living-wage careers in healthcare. |

WORK ENVIRONMENT |
This position operates in a professional school setting, and requires the Healthcare Instructor to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. The work environment is fast-paced and requires strong time management and prioritization of job duties. THIS IS A FULL-TIME ON-SITE POSITION. |
PHYSICAL DEMANDS |
This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods while instructing, approximately 75% of the time, with the remaining 25% spent sitting to complete paperwork and administrative tasks. The instructor must be able to hear and speak clearly to communicate with students, and should be able to lift files and instructional materials as needed. |
POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK |
This is a full-time, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible for overtime pay. Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required to fulfill job duties. |
