About this role

External Search and Landscape Assessment

  • Monitor the global oncology R&D landscape to identify emerging therapies, technologies, clinical programmes, and potential external partners. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the China biotech ecosystem, including relevant companies, hospitals and academic institutions.
  • Identify and prioritise external opportunities aligned with oncology portfolio priorities, including combination therapies, clinical trial collaborations and translational research.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external biotech executives, investigators and other relevant stakeholders.

Scientific, Clinical, and Strategic Evaluation

  • Evaluate the scientific rationale, pre-clinical and clinical evidence, biomarker strategy, trial design, feasibility, and potential patient impact of external opportunities. Assess the strategic fit, competitive landscape, differentiation potential, and relevance to oncology portfolio priorities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional assessment of scientific, clinical, regulatory, operational, intellectual property, financial, and compliance considerations.
  • Identify key risks, evidence gaps, and diligence requirements, and recommend appropriate next steps.
  • Prepare clear evaluation summaries, recommendations, and decision materials for internal governance and senior stakeholders.

Collaboration Development and Management

  • Lead external engagement with biotechnology companies and other potential collaborators from initial concept and evaluation through agreement, implementation, and milestone tracking.
  • Coordinate global and regional stakeholders to ensure alignment on collaboration objectives, responsibilities, timelines, resources and governance. Facilitate effective communication and decision-making across internal functions and external partners.
  • Ensure that collaboration activities comply with applicable regulations, company policies, confidentiality requirements, data protection obligations, and ethical standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Academic / Professional Qualification

  • An advanced degree in a relevant discipline, such as an MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, public health, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years’ relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or broader life sciences industry is required. Experience in R&D, Medical Affairs, strategy, business development, external partnering, venture investing, investment banking, or management consulting, preferably in oncology, is highly valued.
  • Prior experience engaging with external partners and managing complex, cross-functional projects is preferred.

Technical / Skill

  • Strong understanding of the oncology R&D landscape, clinical development, and preclinical research.
  • Ability to evaluate scientific proposals and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • Strong project management, communication, stakeholder-management, data-interpretation, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
